So you are going to Disney World and you are curious about the All-Star Movies Resort! Well, look no further... well look for more opinions honestly but stop and take a read of what I've experienced first hand from All-Star Movies Resort. So let me start off by saying we drive 8+ hours every year we go just to get down there. My kids are troopers let me tell you. They are amazing in the car. We had to go to an award ceremony for Doodle Bug before we could leave for our trip two years ago and so we got a later start than we usually do of 3-4 in the morning. We left by about 10:00 am Central Time which is 11:00 am Eastern Time. Now my husband loves to joke that I race the GPS. I do not race the GPS... I just merely think that the time it gives me for an ETA is a suggestion that is to be proven wrong. Okay, I don't really race the GPS. I am a much safer driver than that with two children in the car.
So let me tell you about our stay at this particular resort. We got there around 8 pm Eastern Time. We checked in and went to find our room. While my children's bands and my band worked for our room my husband's band did not. So we went back down to the front desk to get this settled. It was settled in just a matter of minutes and we went back to our room to make sure it was fixed. So the front desk staff is amazing at fixing any problems that come up even if it is something small. So I love the front desk staff who were quick to fix a problem even if it was something so small. Now we had thought about eating in the food court but decided against it because we were exhausted from the long drive down to Disney World. We ordered a pi
zza that we paid for out of pocket because a pizza can cost if I remember correctly two TABLE SERVICE CREDITS. I did not want to waste our table service credits. So we took the kids back to the room to have dinner and we got them ready for bed.
Now the food court was a great place to get food when we were at the hotel. I mean normally we spend a lot of time in the parks but we spent a good amount of time at our resort as well. We did pool time and even rearranged our day to account for some pool time in the morning one day while we were there. My kids loved the pool. We were able to take them to the main pool because we were staying in a preferred room. Is a preferred room worth the extra money? Honestly, I think it is after looking at the walk that the Herbie the Love Bug rooms had. We were placed in the Toy Story section of the hotel and my kids loved it. They really felt like they were the size of a toy and my youngest just had to enter and exit our area through Andy's door. Of course, we let them each take a picture in RC.
Oh my goodness, I feel like I am a bit scatterbrained discussing this so let's do this bullet point style. So please forgive me for the scatterbrained thoughts there for a few moments.
1.) The Rooms - These are not themed to the area that you are staying at and I wish they were it would make it more interesting to stay in those rooms. It would give it an extra bonus. I hope that makes sense. The rooms are a standard size for a resort room and what you would find mostly at other hotels. Not a whole lot different from a normal hotel. It's just Disney themed. Herbie the Lovebug are the rooms towards the back. Fantasia, 101 Dalmatians, and Toy Story are all preferred rooms. I highly suggest the extra few dollars if you have it in the budget to do so. These are the closet of the rooms to the lobby, food court, and Bus Stop.
2.) The Bus Stop - If you don't mind overcrowded buses then this should not be a problem. However, I know that a lot of people like their personal space and would love to keep their personal space just that their personal space. There is no such thing when you are on the crowded Disney Buses. Since All-Star Movies is the very last resort in this area they are the last resort to get the bus. Which means it has already pretty much filled up with All-Star Sports and All-Star Music guest. This is really my only complaint when it comes to this resort. It shares buses with the other two resorts. I know there are some people who say that during busy times they do not do this, however, this was during a busy time when we went and they were making us share a bus with the other two resorts. This was not something I was completely crazy about especially since the bus driver we got was pretty rude. We had a medical emergency and she was yelling at guest to hush. This was pretty much when it got hostile on the bus and we had to get off so medical personnel could get to the guest who overheated on the bus that had no air on. The All-Star Sports staff was amazing and a big thank you goes out to them for taking care of the guest on the bus quickly and efficiently. They got another bus out there for those of us on the current bus, two buses actually, and then started handing out water to everyone.
3.) The Food Court - You find your usual food here. Burgers, Salads, Pizza. There is, of course, the usual ice cream related items that you would find anywhere else. We ate at the food court a few times while we were there during the trip. I will not fib to you one of my favorite food courts is the one at Art of Animation. We, of course, did the pizza and it was a good pizza. There were burgers and my husband really enjoyed the one that he had. My kiddos really loved the area with the coolers where they could pick out random little items for a snack before bed after a long day in the park. We did not get much in the way of dessert but the kids got the occasional sweet treat while there at the hotel.
For my husband's rating and my rating, we do include the bus issues in our rating. Our children, however, could have cared less about the bus issues except when they were worried about being crushed because of the sardine issues!
My Rating: 3 out of 5 Star
My Husband's Rating: 3 out of 5 Star
Doodle Bug's Rating: 5 out of 5 Star
Short Round's Rating: 5 out of 5 Star
