Baker's Corner-Herbed Crockpot Bread

Preparing to make this bread.
Yes, you read that right! Herbed Crock Pot Bread. I probably thought the same thing that you are thinking right now. You can make bread in the crockpot?!? Where the heck has this been all my life! So I decided that I would try this recipe and I'll let a link to where I found the recipe at the bottom along with the recipe itself. I want to give credit where credit is due.

So anyways I was pretty stoked to find a recipe that I could make bread in the crockpot. I want to go ahead and make note that all crockpots are different and not all of them cook at the same temperature. So while the times in this may work for you they did not work for me.

The recipe is simple to do and fairly quick in the process if you have all of the ingredients on hand. I thought I had all the ingredients on hand only to discover I did not so a quick trip to the Dollar General was in order. Sadly they did not have the items I needed so I made a quick trip next door to the Dollar General to the Piggly Wiggle. I got the few things I needed and headed out the door with my purchases. Great right!

I came home and started work on the bread. Of course, bread requires five minutes for the yeast when you use it. So I managed to start up another recipe that I'll be sharing later this evening that I found. So I get this dough started and I have to work the best I can as I do not have a mixer with a dough hook.

Like I said the recipe is fairly easy to do and does not take a lot of time. However, for me, my crockpot cooks at a different temperature than the original poster's crockpot. I had to leave my bread in much longer than was said to. So the original post for the recipe came from livingsweetmoments.com (https://livingsweetmoments.com/herbed-crock-pot-bread-recipe/) and the original post was made for September 20, 2016.

The mixture for me was a little sticky so it was hard to make the dough into the ball that she says to make it into. I probably could have added just a touch more flour to it to get the right consistency but I was going word for word of the recipe. The recipe is a wonderful one and I do recommend it. There were a few things that I had to differently as I do not have packets of yeast. I have good containers of it. I prefer it to packets as I can get more use out of it cheaply. However whenever you see 1 packet of instant yeast that is 2 1/4 teaspoons. I will be copying down the recipe here as well. I would hate for the website to suddenly disappear and the recipe along with it.

Mine did take a bit longer to cook in this one but still came out great.
Recipe: Herbed Crock Pot Bread

Again I would like to point out that each crock pot cooks differently so times may vary. Mine had to cook for nearly two hours.

This soft Crock Pot Bread Recipe is super easy to make and does not require any rising time. Perfect for toast, sandwiches, a side for dinner and more.

Course: Bread
Servings: 1 Loaf
Calories: 421 cal
Author: Tiffany Bendayan

Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour more may be needed
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet instant yeast 2 1/4 teaspoons
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme or rosemary (any herb)
Instructions
  1. In the mixer using the dough hook, place the warm water, 1 teaspoon sugar, and the yeast. Mix lightly and cover for 5 minutes for yeast to activate.
  2. When the mixture starts to bubble add the rest of the ingredients.
  3. Mix on medium speed for 5-6 minutes or until dough becomes soft and elastic.
  4. Shape into a loaf and sprinkle salt on top (optional if you like a salty taste).
  5. Line slow cooker with parchment paper.
  6. Place dough inside and cover.
  7. Cook on HIGH for 1 hour to 1 and a half hours.
  8. Check the bottom to see if the bread is completely cooked (bottom should be browned).
  9. Place the loaf of bread under the broiler for 2-3 minutes to brown (optional).
  10. Enjoy!
The loaf I made came out good still and I plan on making it again. It was delish and I used basil instead of thyme or rosemary as that was what I had on hand. I saw several people in her comments talking about adding cheese or even garlic to it and that is a plan I will be doing in the future for sure.

August Wrap

Let's just go ahead and jump right on into it. The One by Kiera Cass Book 3 of 5 Page: 323 Published: June 5, 2014 Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Synopsis: When she was chosen to compete in the Selection, America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown - or to Prince Maxon's heart. But as the end of the competition approaches, and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, Ameica realizes just how much she stands to lose - and how hard she' ll have to fight for the future she wants. My Opinion: So much happens in this book. Just so much. I wanted to hate America so much for a short time. I wanted to but no matter how much more I read I could not hate her I just could not. And after a little while one of my most hated characters throughout the trilogy I could not hate either. I just couldn't. I wanted to but the more the book went on and the more things happened I ended up loving my most hated character even more. By the time the book ende...
