September Wrap

Let's just jump right into it. I actually got the first book that I wanted to read actually read and picked up the second book right after that. I worked a lot this month and so I think getting two books read during this month was pretty good for me. Especially when I look at the fact that most of what I read was during the last couple of days of September.

Zodiac Academy #1: The Awakening
by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti
Book 1 of 8
Kindle Unlimited
Page: 329
Published: August 2, 2019
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Synopsis:

You have been selected to attend Zodiac Academy, where your star sign defines your destiny.

If you're one of the Fae, elemental magic is in your blood. And apparently it's in ours. As twins born in the month of Gemini, we're a rare breed even in this academy of supernatural a-holes.

Changelings were outlawed hundreds of years ago but I guess our birth parents didn't get the memo. Which means we're totally unprepared for the ruthless world of Fae.

Air. Fire. Water. Earth.

No one has ever harnessed all four of them, until we arrived. And it hasn't made us any friends so far.

As the rarest Elementals ever known, we're already a threat to the four celestial heirs; the popular, vindictive bullies who happen to be some of the hottest guys we've ever seen. It doesn't help that they're the most dangerous beasts in the Academy. And probably on earth too.

Our fates are intertwined, but they want us gone. They've only got until the lunar eclipse to force us out and they'll stop at nothing to succeed.

We never knew we had a birthright to live up to but now that we do, we intend to claim our throne.

We can't expect any help from the faculty when it comes to defending ourselves. So if the dragon shifters want some target practice, the werewolves want someone to hunt or the vampires fancy a snack then we have to be ready. But we've been looking after each other for a long time and fighting back is in our blood.

Today's horoscope: totally screwed.

My Opinion:

I attempted this book a second time after trying to read it at the beginning or mid-to-late August but just didn't have the time. I was sick from both shots when it came to the Covid vaccine. So when I was home recovering I was literally sleeping the whole time. However, this time when I started the book I got all the way through it and fell immediately in love with it. I just had to pick up the second book.

Let's meet the twins, Tory and Darcy, the long lost twins of a king and queen that were murdered when they were babies. The girls were thought to have been lost as well but they were not. They were sent to the human realm and swapped with human babies.

We meet our first professor at the school that they are going to be going to when Darcy is running from the cops but we don't know it yet. We meet him again when Tory is leaving the bar that she goes to after she steals a bike. So much has obviously happened to these girls and when Orion tells them that they are the lost princesses of Solaria who wouldn't want to jump for the money with the way their lives have been?

The Celestial heirs are soon met when the girls arrive after they have discovered they have an affinity for all four elements. Of course the men are threatened by the girls even though they know nothing of the place they are in or control of the elements they wield. The four of them are determined to make their lives living hell.

Zodiac Academy #2: Ruthless Fae
by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti
Book 2 of 8
Kindle Unlimited

Published: August 30, 2019
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Synopsis:

They tried to break us.
They almost did.
But we're not going anywhere.

The Celestial Heirs think the stars are on their side. But they don't know what's coming. Fighting them one on one isn't an option so we have to be stealthy. Remaining under the radar won't be easy, but if we pull it off, they'll never suspect our involvement when their lives start falling apart.

Besides, they've already taken us to the brink of hell, what more can they really do?

My Opinion:

After what the Celestial Heirs have done to the girls they think the girls are going to go running from the academy but what they didn't expect was for the girls to fight back but the girls fight dirty. They do things that no one would think the girls have done. The girls have managed to ruin every bit of their lives with rumors and things that have happened.

A room set ablaze for a dragon. Fleas for the werewolf. Rumors for the vampire. A skin condition for the Siren. Who would ever suspect the girls of such a thing? They wouldn't know how to conjure fleas for a werewolf would they? All of the fire users would be suspect for the room being set on fire and Tory can barely control her flames enough to get them to conjure half the time. Rumors for the sexy vampire? That's not hard since he's always looking to have sex with Tory. And the skin condition well be careful of allergies around the girls.

There is always something happening in these books and it's amazing and I don't blame Tory for holding the grudge that she does against the Celestial Heirs. Both her and Darcy are well within their rights for their grudges in this book.

August Wrap

Let's just go ahead and jump right on into it. The One by Kiera Cass Book 3 of 5 Page: 323 Published: June 5, 2014 Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Synopsis: When she was chosen to compete in the Selection, America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown - or to Prince Maxon's heart. But as the end of the competition approaches, and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, Ameica realizes just how much she stands to lose - and how hard she' ll have to fight for the future she wants. My Opinion: So much happens in this book. Just so much. I wanted to hate America so much for a short time. I wanted to but no matter how much more I read I could not hate her I just could not. And after a little while one of my most hated characters throughout the trilogy I could not hate either. I just couldn't. I wanted to but the more the book went on and the more things happened I ended up loving my most hated character even more. By the time the book ende...
