Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
Synopsis:
Based on a popular light novel comes one girl's story of trying to become the strongest magic user--despite having the laziest of instructors!
Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor is a new ongoing manga series based on the light novel series of the same name. Taking place in a fantastical realm of magic and mythology, readers will follow a young girl named Sisti as she trains to become a powerful magic user against all educational odds.
Sisti is a young magic-user in training who attends prestigious magical academy where she hopes to be trained by the best of the best. However, when her instructor suddenly retires, his replacement is anything but what Sisti had hoped for--lazy, incompetent, and always late! Can Sisti still learn magic and unravel the mystery of Sky Castle with such a terrible teacher to lead her?
My Opinion:
It's not often that I find an anime that I want to sit down and read the manga that goes with it. I enjoyed this anime and decided that since we owned the first book that I would pick this up and start reading it. Sometimes the manga gives more than the anime and I know that the light novel does give a good bit more than both of those options.
The Wolf's Capture

Book 1 of ...
Pages: 58
Published: July 10, 2018
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Synopsis:
It should have just been a simple vacation, away from everyone and everything to clear my head. But I soon realized I wasn’t alone.
He stalked me, hunted me. I should’ve run faster, tried harder. But the truth was I liked him chasing me.
Wolf was a ruthless man, his way of living barbaric. Now he had me in his off-the-grid cabin, what he deemed my new home. I was his new wife, would have his babies.
I was his irrevocably.
I shouldn’t have felt arousal. But I did.
He’s not going to let me escape ... but then again, maybe I don’t want to.
Warning: This one has bite to it—even if it’s NOT paranormal! As per the usual ... it’s short and fast and pretty unrealistic … but it gets right down to the juicy bits. It’s one of those stories that will have you wanting to find your own Wolf in the woods.
My Opinion:
The Synopsis of this story makes it seem like it's something so much more than what it is. I think that had the sysnopsis possibly been closer to the actual story I might not have read this. I figured this was a possible supernatural read but it was not. However, even then the synopsis almost reads like it's going to be a suspense filled short read but it was not. I was not satisfied with this story sadly.
Wonder Woman: Warbringing
by Leigh Bardugo & Louise Simonson
Pages: 208
Published: January 7, 2020
Rating: 4 our of 5 Stars
Synopsis:
She will become one of the world's greatest heroes: WONDER WOMAN. But first she is Diana, Princess of the Amazons. And her fight is just beginning. Based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Leigh Bardugo, this graphic novel adaptation brings to life Diana's first adventure beyond the hidden shores of Themyscira.
Diana longs to prove herself to her legendary warrior sisters. But when the opportunity finally comes, she throws away her chance at glory and breaks Amazon law--risking exile--to save a mere mortal. Even worse, Alia Keralis is no ordinary girl and with this single brave act, Diana may have doomed the world.
Alia just wanted to escape her overprotective brother with a semester at sea. She doesn't know she is being hunted. When a bomb detonates aboard her ship, Alia is rescued by a mysterious girl of extraordinary strength and forced to confront a horrible truth: Alia is a Warbringer--a direct descendant of the infamous Helen of Troy, fated to bring about an age of bloodshed and misery.
Together, Diana and Alia will face an army of enemies--mortal and divine--determined to either destroy or possess the Warbringer. If they have any hope of saving both their worlds, they will have to stand side by side against the tide of war.
My Opinion:
Honestly, I'm pretty sure I would have enjoyed the story a lot more if I had read the book instead of reading the graphic novel first but I was pushed for time and needed something that would be quick. I still plan to read the story as I know there will be so much more to the story that what the graphic novel gave me as I also will now be able to picture what the artist has drawn up as I read that is one of the things I love most when it comes to a novel that also has a graphic novel with it. While I trust my imagination to deliver what the author has written and described it is sometimes nice to have this extra little thing.
Snowy Kisses

Pages: 35
Published: December 16, 2020
Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars
Synopsis:
Justice Wright and his brother Jonah own and run a small resort in the small mountain town of Jolly, Vermont. They're extremely busy this time of year with all of the holiday festivities they have planned. When one of his employees falls ill, it's up to Justice to take over running the sleigh rides and he isn't happy about it. He's more the behind the scenes kind of guy. One cold Friday night he's all set up to guide a blind date sleigh ride when the guy calls it off last minute. He's about to start cleaning up when the most beautiful woman he's ever seen shows up for her blind date.
Delaney Brewer has been anxious all week about the blind date her friend from work set her up on. She never does things like this, but her friend promised her he was a great guy and that they would totally hit it off. She's cautiously optimistic when she shows up only to find out her date bailed on the date without telling her. She's not sure if she should be pissed or thanking the guy since the man standing in front of her is the real-life version of the man of her dreams.
When Justice offers to take her out for a ride anyway, Delaney accepts even if it is just a pity ride.
One night of Snowy Kisses turns into something neither of them could have expected.
My Opinion:
This is a cute story. I did enjoy it. While Justice is not happy to be getting out in the weather for a sleigh ride he does just that because it's his job. What bother's him though is that the woman who shows up to the sleigh is not only late but she's been stood up and he cannot stand the thought of someone standing this beautiful woman up. As it's late when they get back and the weather has gotten bad he does not want to put her on the roads. He offers to let her stay with him. And I'm sure you can figure out where it goes from there.
