What I Thought of This Book:
First and foremost I want to point out that I managed to finish this book in a day. And with my recent record of reading this is an achievement for me and one that I would love to point out. This book was started at 4 am on Monday the 21st of October and I finished it before 1 pm on Monday the 21st of October. Some will ask what were you doing up at 4 am well I currently have a sick husband since I am currently writing this just an hour later while this book is still fresh but this won't be published until next Monday. So I currently have a sick husband and a sick kiddo at home and I had some time. I had two nearly three hours before taking the oldest kiddo to read before getting him up to get ready for school. I had the time while at the doctor's office. I even had time when I got home and fed everyone lunch.
This book was one that I flew through. I don't know how I did it and there were moments I wanted to laugh. There were moments that I wanted to cry. There were moments that I wanted to throw my phone across the room because I was frustrated at the main character. For those wondering why I wanted to throw my phone it's because I was reading the book on Kindle since I use Kindle Unlimited. This is not the first book that I've read via Kindle and it doesn't feel like it will be my last using the feature. however, I feel like I want this book in paperback form. There's just something about having it in physical form. As well as the fact that this book feels like it is one that I would read again.
I don't like giving out to many details about a book when I review a book because honestly I just want to explain how I'm feeling what I felt with the book. I've had some people get angry with me and cuss at me for talking about a book and what happens in it even if it is spoiler free.
So I want to say that this book is really one that I think a lot of people should read. it'd definitely different from what I would usually read. I'm not much of a contemporary reader or even a book that seems like it belongs more in the fiction portion of the book store but I just had to take a chance on this book. If you've read this book please let me know down in the comments I'd love to know what you think of it. See if we have some of the same views. I'll leave a few myself before I leave this post to be published.
Lake- Lake frustrated me to no end. I thought I was going to stop reading this and be done with it but I kept reading because I started to notice that while a lot of her issues were me me me issues there was a different part of me that started to notice that she was growing as a person.
Kels- Kels is Lake's little brother. He's adorable and he's cute in so many different ways. He does give a bit of relief in some of the more intense moments of the book. He was a favorite character even if he's only nine years old.
Will- Will is such a pain in the ass. My heart breaks for him and the things he's had to pick through his life as he has gotten older. Like kicked him in the butt at 19 but he grew up and did the right thing. I also had some severe issues with this character at times to because while Lake had her own issues to deal with there were issues she was dealing with that was caused by Will and they could have been fixed easily if Will wasn't so wishy washy at times.
Julia- She is Lake and Kels mother. She does so much that you try to understand why she does and then you realize that you can't figure it out and then she goes and drops a bomb on her daughter and then the two of them have to work though the issue at hand and find the bigger picture.
Caulden- Becomes Kels best friend the moment they move from Texas to Michigan. Their friendship is immediate and it's very much so infectious.
