April Reads

After being so sick for the last month and a half I have decided with a heavy heart that I am not going to post a TBR for the month of April. This is mostly while I continue to recover from Covid. I am suffering from some long term affects of Covid-19. This is a sucky time in my life but I am hoping to still get the opportunity to read a little this month.

The Princess Diarist Book Review

The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher 5 out of 5 Stars 5 Stars: Absolutely Loved It! A Favorite! A Recommendation to Anyone! A Re-Read At Anytime! Synopsis: The Princess Diarist is Carrie Fisher’s intimate, hilarious and revealing recollection of what happened behind the scenes on one of the most famous film sets of all time, the first Star Wars movie. When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved—plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a (sort-of) regular teenager. With these excerpts from her handwritten notebooks, The Princess Diarist is Fisher’s intimate and revealing recollection of what happened on one of the most famous film sets of all time—and what developed behind the sc

Wishful Drinking Book Review

Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher 5 out of 5 Stars 5 Stars: Absolutely Loved It! A Favorite! A Recommendation to Anyone! A Re-Read At Anytime! Synopsis: In Wishful Drinking, Carrie Fisher tells the true and intoxicating story of her life with inimitable wit. Born to celebrity parents, she was picked to play a princess in a little movie called Star Wars when only 19 years old. “But it isn’t all sweetness and light sabres.” Alas, aside from a demanding career and her role as a single mother (not to mention the hyperspace hairdo), Carrie also spends her free time battling addiction, weathering the wild ride of manic depression and lounging around various mental institutions. It’s an incredible tale – from having Elizabeth Taylor as a stepmother, to marrying (and divorcing) Paul Simon, from having the father of her daughter leave her for a man, to ultimately waking up one morning and finding a friend dead beside her in bed. My Review: These are my honest thoughts and feelings

Ferdinand Movie Review

Let's talk about this adorable movie! If you have not seen this movie I highly recommend this. The kids approve of this movie completely and honestly there's one scene that I just think makes the movie. I died laughing when I saw this and couldn't stop. So the synopsis of the movie is this: After Ferdinand, a bull with a big heart, is mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure.  And let's face it if you look at the face on that movie cover then you know that that guy is anything that you would think of for a normal bull. He's sweet, adorable, and let's face it he's the best flower child there is. This starts off with our sweet faced bull being bullied by the other bulls in the pen. A sadness happens and I won't discuss it incase you haven't seen the movie yet. Eventually Ferdinand finds his way to Nina. Such a sweet sweet littl

So if I read a six book series then it would be blank out of thirty stars. I hope that explains it well. Season Challenge #1 Spring

This challenge seems to be fairly easy. Oh who am I kidding this challenge is very easy if I am being completely honest. This is a challenge where you read during the four different seasons. I'm trying to honestly remember to post this challenge just the week before it happens unless I'm in need of post then the max it'll come up is one month. I'm trying to keep things simple and updated during all of this. I'll be posting as much as I can to update and that may mean that multiple blogs may be posted during the week other than my once three times a week. I am hoping that this will also encourage everyone to read during these challenges as well. So the dates for the Spring Season will begin March 20th and last through June 20th.  That's a good three months of reading and if I'm still reading five books a month then I should get at least 10 books in. Now normally I would post the books that I'll be reading during this time I can't exactly sa

Our Pet Adoption Story

Have you ever wanted to adopt a pet from one of your local shelters? Are you always looking at the shelter's Facebook page and OoOoing and Ahhing over the puppies or even the adult dogs? I can honestly say that was the case with my family just before Christmas. The number of animals that they had during that time tugged at our heartstrings. We were fostering one dog and he just was not a fit for our family and the other dogs that we had in our home at the time. He was an amazing dog but sadly we had to take him back before our foster period was over. Then we found Penny, well at the time her name was Terry. We fell in love with her and our puppy who we took for a playdate before bringing her home was in love. The two were both a little skittish around each other but quickly opened up when we got them home. So we brought Miss Penny home and we had her home for maybe twenty-four hours when she got sick. Now if your shelter will let you foster a pet before adopting I strongly sugge

What Do I Think Method All-Purpose Cleaner

This post is in no way sponsored by Method. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own and completely free of bias. I wanted something new to try that I would be able to use in my house that would not smell like the usual cleaners. I mean this does all the things that I need it to do and on top of that, it smells nice. I was just looking through Target one day and saw this cleaner and was thinking I could totally use this. I was browsing the shelves at all the cleaners. Now I'm a great fan of lemon, orange, and even lime... however, my mother is allergic to citric fruits and she does come over occasionally. So, in other words, I try to avoid those scents when I can. I found the Honeycrisp Apple scent and while the cleaner does use citric acid as a preservative in it I still use it. If I know when my mom is coming over I try to use it the day or two before she gets to my house. I use this in my kitchen, bathroom, and well every room in my house. I even use this on my window

All About Illuminae - Book Review

Star Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Synopsis: This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded. The year is 2575, and two rival mega corporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit. But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she'd never speak

After Movie Talk

So I recently watched this movie and with this month's post only being book related I can see why a movie review in the middle of all this is going to be a little confusing. Part of the reason I'm review this is because it is based off a book. haha see I worked in the book aspect. This was a great movie. And since I have never read the book this is an unbiased opinion of this movie. I have seen reviews for the movie now that I have seen the movie not once but twice. I do get that this movie is probably leaving out a great amount of detail when it comes to the book but what movie that's based off a book doesn't hold every detail or word written. Does it suck that this is the case? It does but what can you do. Books would be amazing as a tv series depending on the book but if it requires a movie then that's the route to go. I did plenty of background on all of the actors and actresses in this movie and they are all new faces. Some of them have been in the limeli

Doodle Bug's 12th Birthday

I cannot believe that this guy is turning 12. I also think my bigger issue is the fact that he's taller than me. Literally this guy is taller than me. 12 years old and taller than mom's 5'2".

February Wrap

Would you believe it if I said I got one actual book read and then I read 7 manga. I was in a mood for manga but I blame the husband for that after he got me hooked on a few new anime. So let's go ahead and jump feet first into this pool! The Quintessential Quintuplets, Vol. 5 by Negi Haruba Book 5 of ... Page: 194 Published: October 23, 2018 Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Synopsis: Futaro Uesugi the private tutor has come down sick after the school trip, but not even illness can keep him from trying to get the quints to study! As he tries to get closer to the five girls, he ends up driving a wedge between them instead. And just when he's about to hit rock bottom, Futaro's past catches up to him in a big way?! The drama continues in volume 5. My Opinion: I still love this manga. I have to say that I would love for this to just be a complete harem and him not have to choose one of the five girls he is stuck tutoring as a way to figure out who he is going to marry. I love how he m
